15 Fall Decorating Ideas

I’m not one to decorate for each season.  I tend to mostly go all out for Christmas, and that’s about it for seasonal decorating.  After browsing through Pinterest I found some ideas I might like to use.  This inspired me to maybe spruce up the place for fall.  Thought I would share some fall decorations I found for around the house.  Enjoy!

You can find links for these ideas on my Pinterest board

Home Organization

I thought I would devote this week’s blog post to Home Organization.  Lately I’ve been in the mood to spruce up the house a bit.  Maybe I want it to look like adults still live here amongst all the kiddie toys 🙂

Ensuite Bathroom

When we were planning to build our house there were some things that were a must and one of them was a large ensuite bathroom.  I didn’t mind if there was a tub or just a shower or combo etc., but there had to be two sinks!  After living in a condo with an itsy bitsy bathroom to share and store all of my ‘stuff’ I was so happy to have some storage.  However, even though I have all the space it’s not really organized and I just have stuff there.  What I would love is organization piece in the middle of the two sinks like in this picture:

Office Organization

The home office is always in need of organization or redecorating.  If it’s one place you spend a bit of time, you want it to be comfortable but well organized as well.

Kids Room Organization

Is it possible for a kids room to be organized?  Though my little one isn’t quite a big kid yet and still in the baby phase learning to walk, I find she can still make quite a mess in her room.  I have the Ikea Expedit shelving unit in her room with two storage boxes and those have helped so much keeping her books organized.  As well having the storage boxes you can keep things that just need to be put away and it not look messy.  Here are some organization ideas:

Pantry Organization

Is your pantry messy or disorganized like this one?

Mine sort of resembles this state of clutter.  Wouldn’t you want to transform it to look like this? I do!

Linen Closet Organization

When I think of my linen closet I think of one hot mess. Lol.  I think I just have so much in there that I just fold and put it in there to fit.  Here are some great inspirational ideas to get your linen closet looking neat and tidy.

Bedroom Closets

Wouldn’t we all love a huge walk-in closet like you see on TV.

Here’s an idea I found to organize a small closet

I was just thinking that after reading this blog post, you’ll think that my house must pretty disorganized.  🙂

The Best 12 Months!

0741_Baby%20Foot%20Prints  A moment in my arms forever in my heart

One year ago our sweet little girl was born.  I still remember that moment like it was yesterday.  Everyone says they grow up so fast.  It is so true!  I can’t believe how fast this year went.  I can’t believe she’s going to be a toddler!

I fell in love with that sweet little girl, the moment I saw her on our 10 week ultrasound visit.  She has been a true joy since the moment we brought her home.  I couldn’t ask for a more peaceful baby.  Even though I was up feeding her every 2 hours the first few weeks.  What can I say she’s always been one hungry girl 🙂  Now that she’s eating solids, she still eats a ton for such a small little girl.

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful little girl.  We are so lucky to have a LO that LOVES to sleep.  From the moment we taught her to fall asleep on her own, she almost begs to go for a nap or to bed.  I think she gets that from her Mom 😉  That and her love for soft blankets.

Her favourite things right now are: her blankets, kitties, books, clocks, num nums (food),  Bubble Guppies, baths and Mommy and Daddy’s phone.  I know your thinking, clocks? She is obsessed with clocks!  This is actually her third real word.  It started a couple weeks ago as soon as she see’s a clock she won’t stop pointing and babbling about the clock.  When we went to meet cousin Kinsey in the hospital she was in her glory with all the clocks.  When you walk down the halls there is one like every 20 ft maybe, and she couldn’t get over how many clocks there were.

Right now I just love sitting back and just watching her play and discover things on her own (when she lets me).  It is so fascinating to see the world through your child’s eyes.  As the days are nearing that I won’t get to spend every hour of every day with her I’m cherishing all these little moments with her.  In the beginning we would take hundreds of photos as well as videos of her.  Now I just like to sit back and take in these moments I spend with her.  I saw this quote on another Mom’s blog awhile back, and then stumbled upon it the other day on Pinterest:

Sometimes it can be so hard to just leave things, for me this is so true.  Having our house up on the market makes it tough sometimes as I feel like I’m always having to make sure the house is tidy and in order.  With a LO you all know this is tough because they constantly have everything all over the house.  I find she changes so much right now.  And teaching her how to walk is so much fun, along with other skills she is learning.  I just can’t believe this it’s been a year.  Where does the time go?

To our sweet Lainey:  You bring your father and I so much joy.  We couldn’t imagine our lives without you.  You fill our days with so much joy, each and every smile and kiss we get.  We pray that we can be the best parents we can be for you.  Though you may not like us at times and will most likely have tantrums and test the limits, we will love you unconditionally.  You will always be our baby girl and for that we are truly blessed.  We love you.

Toddler Meals

Now that my LO is getting older and can eat more of what we eat, I have to start getting a bit more creative with her meals.  So I thought I would share a few recipes I found online.

1) Savoury Mini Muffins

Find the recipe here

They are healthy and quick if you just freeze a bunch at a time.

2) French Toast Fingers

Find this recipe here

A nice treat instead of the same old breakfast every morning.

3) Super Mac & Cheese

Find this recipe here

4) Butternut Squash Risotto

Find this recipe here

I liked this one because my LO just loves her squash.  Great way to cook up squash in a different way

5) Creamy Chicken Dinner with Apple

(Sorry no photo) Here is the recipe:

2 chicken breast halves, diced
1 tbsp olive oil
4 fl oz (1/2 cup)  apple juice
pinch dried rosemary
pinch freshly ground black pepper
2 fl oz (1/4 cup) double or heavy cream
2 tsp fresh parsley, chopped

Heat the oil in a large frying pan and cook the chicken until browned,  over a medium heat. Add the apple juice, rosemary and black pepper and  reduce the heat. Cover and simmer for 10-15 mins, until the chicken is  cooked through. Remove the chicken and keep warm. Add the cream to the  frying pan and cook, stirring, until thickened and reduced by about half. Return the chicken to the mixture and heat for a few minutes. Sprinkle  with the parsley, chop to size and serve with brown  rice and steamed carrots.

I found the recipe here if you are interested in more chicken recipes.

6) Cheddar Cheese Sauce

I found this recipe here

I really like this simple cheese sauce.  I put it on a pasta or even on top of veggies.

Family Room Decor (part 1)

I’ve been staring at a blank wall above our tv since we moved into our house, which was 3 years ago.  I think it’s time I spruce it up.  I’ve been gathering ideas on Pinterest that I think might work.  What I really would like is a collage of picture frames.   Not too many that it will look cluttered, but just enough to make it look not so bare.

So this is what it looks like at the moment…

I think I may need to move around some other things too once I get started.  Below are a couple ideas I have.  I would like to include a wood ‘W’ like the one in the top right picture.  And I really wanted to make the ‘LOVE’ wood rosette sign (bottom right).  However, it just wouldn’t work anywhere in the house.  So maybe I can  make a small one and work it in the collage if it.  Though it may be a bit too much I think.  This would be a great place finally for a family photo.  Lainey is going to be a year old and I don’t think we have one family photo.  I think we better get that done 🙂

So hopefully I can get to this project sooner than later and have an update with a Part 2 to this post 🙂
